Jenny's Shower

Megan and I had a shower for Jenny Tuesday night. I was so stressed about it but after it was over, I thought, what the heck was my problem! I think this was the 4th shower Jenny was having and this one was close friends so we decided to do lingerie themed. When they got there, we told them they had to give themselves the best bed hair and Jenny would choose the winner. Wren, in red, won the prize!

After the hair, we had soup for dinner and then we had Jenny open her gifts. Below is Jenny reading a pamphlet that her sister gave her about using condoms. Whoever wrote it had an awesome sense of humor and we were cracking up at the real life scenarios they had.
After the gifts we played another game that involved having a hot dog dangling from a string at knees length and trying to get it in a bottle. I have several pictures of those, but I have no idea if my dad reads this blog and if he does, it's better they stay off. The game was hilarious though! Crystal and I tied for first so we went again making the string shorter and we tied again for that one. I was the host so I couldn't win anyways so I declared Crystal the champion. We also read off Jenny's reactions to her gifts. The favors were caramel apples but we called them "forbidden fruit." We sat around and chatted for a bit and everyone left around 9:30sih.
Cleanup was so easy! I should make soup all the time. It took Megan and me about 20min to get the kitchen taken care of and then we sat and watched The Biggest Loser finale while we ate ice cream. =)

Temple Square

We went to look at the lights Saturday night. It was freezing! And not the same if there isn't snow on the ground. We had to go to two different 7-11's to get hot chocolate before we hit the lights. The second one was shady and had a homeless man in a skirt smoking and drinking a beer and asking us for change. Pretty dang awesome.

Jeff kept taking random pictures of us when we were trying to do a real one. This is the only one that turned out groupwise. I'll post more later....maybe.

I was bored so I told them to pretend they're in jail.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was hectic, to say the very least. I've learned that I can't handle large crowds of family...so I won't be putting myself in those situations unless I can help it. Kayleigh and I drove home Tuesday night after work. I took a sleeping pill and fell asleep somewhere around Nephi and woke up right before St George. Totally the way to travel! It felt like only 10 minutes had passed by and even though we got to AZ around 2am, each of us had enough sleep on the way down to not feel the effects of sleep deprivation.

Wednesday we all slowly woke up around Hillary's house and had pancakes for breakfast. I was so excited to see Callie and Jack that I wanted to wake them up but for the sake of Hillary's sanity, I waited for them to get up on their own. Later on we went to my mom's house and then shopping for the events of the next day. Below us we see Darcy browsing a magazine as we're waiting for G-ma Green and Aunt Lorie.
Later that night we had soup at Hillary and Jeremiah's house. The pic below is so funny because Callie is watching a movie with a scary part (I think Disney's Robin Hood) and even though she's seen it quite often, she's still scared.
Let's skip over T-day because I was grouchy the whole day and would prefer to not bring it up. This is Hillary with her Black Friday loot on Saturday morning. She's teaching Ellie young. Look at how excited she is to be around new clothes! We went to Bullhead/Laughlin for Black Friday and the most expensive thing I got was Monopoly for $10. This year was a bust for me.
Ellie and her favorite aunt. She told me I was.

The chaos that was our Saturday.

When we were growing up, we would visit Grandma and Grandpa Green at their house in Mesa. Upstairs they had a pool table and a shelf with their bowling trophies that they'd won. Grandma Green played Wii Bowling with Callie and just barely took the victory! Callie is pretty awesome at the game. She put Grandpa Green to shame!

Sunday morning at the Divis house. Callie sleeps like a rock! Jack was making so much noise. I felt bad for the little guy....I babysat them Friday night and the track was the first thing he saw when we got inside and he was so excited to play with it and I wouldn't let him. I found out later that he'd never played with it before because there wasn't room for it in the old house. I had a talk with him about it the next morning and we hugged it out.

All that Jazz!

And yes, I think I'm clever because of this title!

Last night my friend Michelle called me up and asked if I wanted to go to a Jazz game with her. Her roommate and her got season tickets but Tasha couldn't go. Something about being responsible and doing homework. We got there around the tail end of the 2nd quarter and Michelle quickly educated me on all of the players we should and shouldn't like. The played against the Suns! I was torn, I didn't know who to cheer for since I have a mild interest in both. I picked the Jazz since it was home game and Michelle is a Jazz nut.
I can't believe how young the players are! One of them was born in 89! Oh yes, and I was also only 300 feet away from Shaq (Suns). While that still seems far away, most of you haven't gotten that close!

The game was awesome and was pretty even which made it even more exciting. Michelle let me keep the ticket stub for memories :)

Things I'm thankful for:
My quickly aging but durable car
Snow that melts on the street but stays on the lawns

Schtuff

There's not a whole lot going on the past few weeks. I had my wisdom teeth taken out this past Thursday. All of them had already surfaced so it wasn't too big of a deal. It took about 30 min for all four (I'm guessing because I was knocked out) and another 45 to sleep off the drugs. Except for dull pain every few hours, I'm fine.
Work has been trying my patience lately. I have an evil manager in the Bountiful office that is THE laziest coworker I've ever had. I'm not allowed to yell at him because he's my manager so I pretty much just have to suck it up. Then there's Jose. He tells us that he worked for NASA but he's been with us for a year and he asks more questions than the new guy. I don't deal well with people that aren't quick on the uptake.
Oh yes, and also Neisha. I have a roommate that's had her bf pretty much living here the past few months so I've given her 30 days notice. She's having him stay over more lately and I'm pretty sure it's just to spite.
So I was wrong, there is a lot going on, just not anything fun :)

One thing that I've decided to do since it's holiday season is leave three things I'm thankful for at the end of my post. Obviously I'm thankful family and things like that so those will go unsaid.

Things I am thankful for:
The internet
My ward
Snow tires

New Do

I gave myself bangs. I sat in front of the mirror one day and took my cuticle scissors and cut about 4 inches off. I cut too much and they're too thick, but these are more like what I've wanted for a long time but haven't been able to acheive. I watched this season's Project Runway and LOVED some of the things that Kenley Collins wore. Very 1950's. Seeing her hair made me decide to take matters into my own hands.

I voted!

This was the first time I voted for a presidential election and I have to be honest, I didn't feel any civic pride. Maybe because of the fact it was in an old folks home and I was surrounded by people eating Jell-O or maybe it was because there were no long arduous lines like I've always heard about. I walked in, got lost because the signs directed me the wrong way, found the correct room, gave them my name and then punched in my choices. I was done in 5 minutes.
I'm not even going to comment about the results.

On a better note, I ran across a few articles that I want to share. The first is a battle between the FCC and the networks. The networks want to allow the F-word and the courts have told them no. One argument that they used that I think is completely ridiculous is 'What if a "particular remark was really hilarious, very funny? Would that cause the FCC to think twice about imposing a fine?"' So it's ok to lower standards as long as it's funny. That's what the networks were trying to push.

Second is Prop 8 in California. Yesterday the people for gay marriage placed an ad that ran about 30 times depicting LDS missionaries stealing wedding rings and ripping up the marriage license of a lesbian couple.

http://www.kutv.com/content/news/topnews/story.aspx?content_id=E1F83189-843F-41D7-84C4-2029FBD9A2CE&gsa=true

There's a link to the video on YouTube.

1. I think it's funny that they remember to give one of the missionaries a shoulder bag but don't remember to put fake black tags on the shirt pocket.
2. I've yet to see a lesbian couple that is that attractive.

After 4 1/2 months of legal gay marriages, they have put a ban on that law and it is now illegal for gay people to be married.

I Can't Sleep

I can't sleep and this is why.

Instead of going out for Halloween, I decided to stay in and have a few people over. I'm SO glad I did that! I had more fun passing out candy to kids than I have ever had dressing up and going to a party. Plus it was fun to see how excited they got when I told them they could take more than one piece. Several children turned their hand into the claw that pulls out stuffed animals and grabbed like 10 pieces! Probably because I had the good candy. The pizza guy also hit on me, which is flattering and creepy at the same time because he was 5'4" mid 30's and spoke very little english.
Megan, Jeff, and Ben (long time friend I haven't mentioned till now) came over and we watched Edward Scissorhands because neither of the guys had seen it. During the movie I was head bobbing but got a second wind (thank you mtn dew!) after if had ended. We talked until 11 and then Jeff got up and left. Ben was a good sport and stayed a while but also head bobbed while Megan and I were talking. He left around 12:30. Megan and I stayed and talked until around 2:30. Neither of us had any idea that it was that late! Poor Megan had to be up around 9 the next day and had a full 8 hours of work.
After Megan left, I cleaned up as much as my energy would allow and didn't fall asleep for another hour. I know, 3:30! I slept until 9, ate, watched an episode of Man Men and then back asleep until 2. Thank goodness for Jeff calling, otherwise I would have been fine with sleeping even more.

Tonight we hung out again and played cards and I've had waaaayy to much Mtn Dew. I really am going to pay for all of this tomorrow.

Also, I gave myself bangs today and I thought they were ok but I looked at myself in the mirror after everyone left tonight and my first thought was that I looked like a boy. I'll take pictures tomorrow so I can be an example of why people go to salons.

DownEast Sale

I am my mother's child. It was a good deal, so I got 4!
DownEast had a warehouse sale that mostly consisted of J.Crew things that I couldn't even squeeze a finger into. BUT, they had Wonder Tees and a few camisoles that were only $2.50 each and dresses at $10. I got 4 camisoles, because I believe you can never have enough, and 1 dress. I also got these cute and painful looking shoes for only $10.

I checked the J.Crew website, these shoes were probably selling for anywhere between $250-$400. How awesome am I?!! I also got the brown shoes below for Callie. They're a size 10 and I have no idea what size she is now, but I know it's not a 10. These shoes can be worn year round so that was my justification in getting them.

Apparently My Stupidity Is Quite Obvious

Favorite quote of the weekend
Me-Yeah, I needed something to read for the airport so I picked up Wicked.
Lohol-You READ?!?!?

Oh-Hi-Oh-Hi-OH

Round on the end and high in the middle!

I needed a break from my job big time. (It was only 8:45 AM and I wanted to throw my stapler at Jose) I went to Ohio to visit one of my BFF's Lohol. It's been a loooong weekend. I flew in late Thursday night into Columbus. Lohol lives two hours away and my plane didn't get in until 1am.

We grabbed a bite and didn't hit the road until around 2:30. Bed time was around 5 for us and we had to be up by 8 to be ready to leave for Kirtland at 10, AM! We stopped in Columbus at an awesome mall for lunch. I was a little sad because there were so many stores I wanted to go into but we couldn't. After a 5 hour drive we arrived in Kirtland and went straight to the visitors' center.
We watched a little video, received a tour of some of the historic houses and buildings and then we also watched a video about Joseph Smith. I think it's the same one that's currently playing at Temple Square. I didn't take very many pictures because I knew I wouldn't do anything with them and delete them eventually anyways. I DID take a picture of the house below because it reminds me of Anne of Green Gables.

I have a weird obsession with old houses. I think that's one of the reasons I want to live in the east, there's soooo many of them and hardly any in Utah or AZ. Also, as said before, I was on very limited sleep from the flight the night before....I was so good! I didn't snap at anyone the whole next day. I did start zoning out at Red Robin. But still, props to me for controlling my emotions.

The next day we went to the temple for the 10:30 showing. Their video sucked. It's interesting to see how the two churches tell the story of the same thing. One cool thing that they do is after the movie is over, the screen lifts and the curtains open to a huge glass window that allows you to see the Kirtland temple. They wouldn't let us take any pictures of the inside. Since we were a small group, they allowed us to go up on the 3rd floor (rare treat) and see the classrooms. Some of the flooring seemed unsteady and half the time I was expecting to fall through at any moment. The rooms were very sparsely decorated with a piece or two of furniture. One neat thing is that even thought the 3rd floor is like a rectangle divided into 5 sections, they had windows on every single wall so there was an abundance of natural light.

They had bunches of these flowers on the grounds. A girl with the group said they were Dahlias. They are my new favorite flower. If you look closely, you can see how the petals unfold.

Me in front of a pretty colored bush.

The group.

After Kirtland, we went on to the Morley Farm. It was fah-reezing! I was told how nice the weather is so last minute I brought my sweatshirt. I was still chilly.

Sitting on a chair made out of a wood. On the Morley Farm on the hill where they had the schoolhouse.

After the Morley Farm we went to the Johnson Farm. I didn't take any pictures there and haven't seen any from anyone else's camera that I like. So you're all SOL.

Here's a picture of me and Lohol on the way back. I'm so happy because I know that rest is just a few hours away.

The driver kept telling me that I need to dance and I kept refusing. I'm not a car dancer.

What I've Made

I'm sitting in the Las Vegas airport waiting for my flight to Ohio. Can I just say how awesome this airport is because they offer free WiFi?!? It's so nice to have a fast internet connection, even if it's for only 15 minutes.

A week and a half ago my friend Jen and I went to Color Me Mine. I thought they closed at 9 but turns out they close at 8 on weekdays. We showed up at 7:30 :S The girl was like, really? You want to start now? We said yes because I was set on painting something that night. Here's my bowl that reminds me of a dinosaur.
RS also had a floral arranging night. I learned a lot and now consider myself to be a semi-pro. I will be available for parties and weddings soon. I had to trade off my rose pink roses for extra lilies-I think it was WELL worth it. I've never been a rose lover anyways. I think it turned out pretty snazzy. It's amazing how we all had nearly the same flowers and each arrangement was different and cute!

My fingers are now sticky from a Cinnabon and I'm pretty sure I've reached my 4000 calorie mark for the day. Oh how I love being on vacation where (almost) anything goes!

Busy Weekend

The 'rents decided last minute to come for Conference. My mom drove up with my aunt earlier in the week from Heber, Az with my dad and the boys coming up early Friday. Thursday was my Aunt Lorie's birthday so I drove down to Orem to go to dinner with them. I can't tell people enough how much I love Chili's chips and salsa! My co-worker Tim and I used to get them to go all the time and haven't lately because we've sworn off eating out.

Friday night Megan and I went to a huge LDS singles dance that they have the Friday before General Conference. We got there around 10:30 and didn't leave until 1am. My knees ached so much the next day! Kenny and Stuart showed up later on and it was a little weird to be at a dance with my younger brothers. It was fun times though. I didn't go to sleep until around 3 that night because I was talking on the phone and then watching TV.

Unfortunately, I woke up at 8 the next morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I got out of bed around 9 and was out the door by 10, on my way to Mapleton. I enjoyed listening to the talks on the radio because I was able to focus more. It was pouring rain the whole way down so it took me over an hour to get there. After the first session has finished my mom, Lorie and I went to the Barn Boutique! I love the new ideas that people come up with every year! I totally snuck a few pictures in of things that I thought were cute and I could make them myself because they were WAY overpriced.
This next one wasn't overpriced and I can't make it. I just thought
it was really cute. It's two pirates with a parrot in the middle.
I bought some flower things and some pumpkin chocolate chip bread, YUM!
After the second session of conference and a few hours of being lazy, us girls went to Corn Wagon Quilt Shop where they were having a girls' night. They were making purses out of dishtowels that looked really cute. I didn't make one because the pockets were too big and I'm not talented enough to modify a pattern.
I left Springville around 7 and headed to SLC to get Megan and head to Park City! A girl in our ward was given a condo for the weekend so a group of about 7 or 8 went up. We went swimming and then watched Iron Man and ate WAY too much candy. The next morning I was up by 6 but couldn't make noise because of the other girlsso I forced myself back to sleep and didn't get up again until 8 or 9. It turns out almost all of us did that but thought everyone else was asleep. We had a delicious and fattening breakfast and then watched both sessions while doing a conference pack that Erin had brought for everyone.
After the last session, I headed BACK to Mapleton for dinner with everyone. Jeff and Rivka's little baby Bray was having stomach issues and you could definitely tell when he was in the room! We weren't able to play any games that night so now I'm owed double game playing next time I hang out down there. I collapsed into bed around midnight that night and cursed my alarm the next morning.

Engaged!

No, not me! Jeff and Jenny are officially engaged! From what I remember of the story, Jeff left notes all over the place for Jenny that said I love you because... and had different reasons why he loved her. They went to the temple later that night and then for a drive around the Capital building. He said he had something for her in his trunk and returned with a notepad from work. After a roll of the eyes from Jenny, he gave her another thing that had another note along with the ring underneath.

Jeff was asked about their relationship quite a bit this last weekend and he said that they started dating in April (I say May, but he might be right this time) And then he was asked who was more into the relationship first, him or Jenny. He said Jenny and I openly disagreed. He was always asking me to take pictures of them together long before they were dating as well as making stone art (see above) with their initials while they were still in the hang out phase. Jenny may not take my side on this one, but I'm always right on my blog.

Moving on to Jenny herself. Jeff truly is blessed to have found a girl like her. She has the patience that I wish I could have just a fraction of! She is the most easy going girl that I have ever met. Jenny was my first friend in the ward and she is what has made such a difference in my desire to keep going. I love the fact that I can tell her that "I've had it" and she completely understands what I mean. I think it's great when you can become such good friends with a person that you can communicate with looks instead of words. I have had the best summer that I can remember because of Jenny and the friends that I have made because of knowing her.

Roughin It

My ward went camping this weekend to a stake property around Kamas (past Park City, pretty much BFE). I've found that I can deal with camping as long as there's some kind of toilet. I hate feeling dirty but the wonders of technology have given us sanity cloths and those were my best friend for the past 16 hours. Jeff, Brant, Megan and I went up Friday night with Megan going home because she had work the next morning. What a trooper for even coming at all I say!
We had delicious chili with chips and cheese. Throughout the night everyone sat around this huge fire pit that was about 5 feet wide, while others played games. If you know me at all, you don't even have to ask whether I played games or not. We played a card game called Up and Down the River where you have to bet how many rounds you will win for that deal. Jeff and I tied for second, but I was sitting next to the guy that won and he totally cheated, rendering his win false and making Jeff and me the champions! We also played Catch Phrase later on that night. Some of the things the had were utterly ridiculous! How do you explain rubber nipple to a crowd of LDS people!?!?

Brant, Jeff and Carrie are pictured here. They weren't ready for my camera.
Brett being his usual self.
Girl in green is Michelle. She's absolutely wonderful because I know that I can talk openly with her and she can empathize. We both like sushi mucho!

The night was cold but not so cold that you couldn't sleep. I was in a tent by myself with an air mattress and a down comforter. That's another reason why I didn't mind the camping :) I didn't go to sleep until 2:30 that night and woke up around 6 because Jeff was walking like a bear around camp and woke me up. Once I wake up in the morning, I have to go to the bathroom and if I fight it, I just lay there and can't sleep. I foolishly did that for an hour before I admitted defeat and just woke up for the day. After breakfast we decided to play chubby bunny. I lost horribly but I do have to say, for a girl, I held my own. I got 11 and Brant only got 12. Jeff anhilated us with 15.

Me telling them how many I currently had in my mouth

All in all it was a fun time but by 10am, I had lost it from being so sleep deprived and pretty much bit Jeff's head off more than once. He probably only deserved it half the time.

Mi Casa

My house isn't finished yet. I'm a lazy girl. But here's what it looks like so far.

Labor Free Weekend

Kayleigh and I went to Kingman for Labor Day Weekend and I was able to talk our cousins Chris and Renee to come with their little girl Jayda. It was so nice to veg out for 3 days straight. I'll admit that we had some bigger dinners and I lost it. No tears, just snide remarks to everyone around me. I really don't know how to delegate. Well, I do, but I like things done my way and would rather do it myself if people don't want to do it my way. I know, I'm crazy, but at least I admit it! We played Settlers of Cataan and I WON! I hardly ever win against Jeremiah and was extra surprised because Chris is a very good player too! Hillary and Renee are great players but all three of us are more consistantly losing than winning (sorry girls). Hillary took on the huge task of going through all of her baby clothes and getting rid of the ones she doesn't want and reorganizing the ones that she does. Jack and Jayda had a fun time playing in the plastic containers. Hillary thought it would be fun to have Jack try on one of his Halloween outfits. That's a onesie. Kenny, Kayleigh, and Stuart don't play games as often as the rest of us. I'm not sure if they like playing games. They're more of a movie going crowd. As you can tell, Kenny is so excited to be playing with us.
